A big thank you to Dave Walters who popped across last night to help me fit my new clutch slave and master cylinder. The job only took us an hour and a half to complete!

The master cylinder is the Wilwood item offered by PNM as a replacement for the Lotus item. It seems a very good quality part and fitted without a hitch. PNM also supplied the Lucas slave cylinder. Bit of a plug but the parts were very reasonable and delivery was prompt. Pete also supplied the adapter for my SJ supplied stainless hose.

I am yet to test the car properly but the clutch seems very light and the biting point is good. At tickover the gears seem easier to engage but I will keep you all posted as to the results of the proper test drive.

Maybe I should do it also on my 88 esprit.
I don't know exactly what are the signs for a clutch faillure. What i feel is a delay between pressure on the throttle (only when changing gear) and real acceleration AS the wheels were spinning. BUT they are not spinning (100% sure) I suspect the clutch is faulty. Could someone confirm this or suggest something else? I have no evident leak on the front and rear cylinder.

That is what I was getting. However it was only on changing gear and accelerating hard. If I was already in the gear and booted it there was no slip and it took off like said cat. Unfortunately I am not able to test the car till tomorrow morning but I will let you know if this has cured it.

There was no actual evidence of a leak on my car but the fluid level was very low in the mastr cylinder.

WOW!!!!!!

Because the clutch can't have been releasing properly it must have been inducing a bit of slip when I put the power down. Bugger me these cars are quick!!!!! I still need to rebleed the system again to get rid of some air but the change is so much better. It will never be wonderful but it was an area I really disliked on the car. Now it slips in no problem, alot of the notchiness has gone. I wouldn't have believed that this would make that much difference.

It is well worth doing on any of the older cars as I guess the rubber does perish after time, more so I guess because the car isn't used every day.

The clutch pedal is also lighter which I don't know if this is just because the parts are new or because of the Wilwood Caliper.
