I recently moved to the US. I had a Pioneer LX5090 in the UK which I have now sold (didn't want to ship it here, get involved with power converters and any other issues).

I want a 60"+ TV here. I have found a few places still selling the Pio KRP-600M new, although at a high price - $4,995. Or... I can have the Samsung 63" C8000 for $3,400.

Is the new Samsung close to the Kuro in terms of quality and performance, or is there still a large gap? Have got HD cable TV, a Blu Ray player and XBOX 360 I will be using with it.

Thats a bit like asking if the Kia Pride is close in performance to a 911 Turbo.

Hmmmm - thanks, I know you are an expert on this stuff. Is there really still that large a gap? The reviews for the new 63C8000 all seem very good.

The gap is still that large.

Samsungs got good reviews when the 600M and 600A were current.

The only other consideration is the Panasonic 65VT20

Which has the Kuro engine of the Pioneer and the film is marginally superior.

The Panny 65VT20 is deffo the way to go the Samsung looks fancy and has a stunning
remote control, but the Panny has a vastly better picture
