According to "Which", as just read on Yahoo News.

The fruits of being able to sell half decent stuff to people with low expectations?

By no means bad cars, in fact rather competent cars, but the best cars, give me a break!

laughlaughlaugh

Mind you, it wasn't all tosh ....... good old Land Rover bumping along right at the bottom on reliability hehe

Doesn't it come down to expectations? Are people who buy Skoda's surprised by their quality and reliability and the people who buy Audi's let down if something goes wrong?

It all comes down to how you define "best" car.

I think those days are long gone. I think most people know expect/know that Skoda's are of decent quality.

Great cars
Good build quality
Most dealerships don’t talk to you like something on the bottom of their shoe.
Try a giving a Fabia VRS a run

You could turn that argument upside down.

Hard up buyers will insist that every fault is dealt with because they need the car to retain value and can't afford to do the repairs after the warranty runs out. A car also represents a much greater investment for them and they are less likely to have second cars so the effect of faults is maximised for them.

Wealthy buyers are more likely to overlook a fault with a prestige marque as they think it is a one off event or do not wish to show that their knowledge of reliability has just been proven wrong. They are also more likely to have a second car so the effect of any fault is reduced thus easier to play down in their minds.

Well, I recently bought a Yeti as I wanted a solid, reliable car that was good to drive and reasonably priced. It hasn't disappointed.

C'mon Guys.
Any one in the know has twigged they are building the best VW's these day's.
Check out the Police orders this year for VRS OCTY's and 4x4 SUPERB ESTATE V6's(0-60 sub 7 secs). Not such a big range maybe but i reckon that's why their build quality is so consistent. I work on all 4xbrands and often look around at Golf,Audi etc to see where the extra 4 Grand goes. I've heard rumours about a Vrs Superb 4x4!. If only big brother would let them build an R32 TDI OCT'y! Me first!!.

I've had 4. The latest is a Scout with the 1.8Tsi. This engine is a total peach. A very good mate of mine is a Paramedic and drives response vehicles. They have some Scouts and he says it's the best motor they have ever had.

I'm certaintly happy with Skoda. They have been faultless.

Best Car Manufacturer ? OP You tell me which is the best Car Manufacturer.

there are a few Skodas in our village now
my future father inlaws MK1 Octavia 1.9TDI is still chugging along, and although the interior and finish is AWFUL there is nothing else to comment on in a bad way

the newer ones I've seen are better inside though smile

Was discussing this with someone the other day and in value for money terms we couldn't think of anyone that tops Skoda for new cars. The new Superb is so much car for the money its incredible. Only snobbery stops them being a huge seller.

I currently have two Skoda's, a Fabia vRS running 180bhp and 312 lb/ft, and an Octavia PD140. Both are riddled with faults. At the moment the Fabia has blown its serial resistor pack on the blower (fan) and is constantly blowing its fuse for the rear screen demister. It has had new console bushes, all doors resprayed due to corrosion under the side rubbing strips, the rear doors fixed for the common leaking problem, a collapsed drivers seat height adjuster, and feels very loose at the front suggesting suspension/steering woes looming. The Octavia has also had a front seat, the airbag warning light is constantly on (given up getting it reset (3x)), the CEL light comes on frequently (oil pressure sensor I think), the aeriel amplifier has failed giving poor radio reception, the autochanger is faulty, and the rear shocks are currently knocking.

A few years ago I had a VW Corrado and I vowed I would never run another VAG car again as its reliability issues proved more expensive than running a Veyron. Well, certainly much more than its replacement at the time, a Subaru Impreza. In three years, 60k miles the Scooby didn't break a thing.

The Skoda's were bought as they were cheap, economical and fit the needs of my fledgling business and young family. When money permits they will be going, quick sharp.
