A good smithy would straighten that out in no time.

BANG! on a dual carriageway on the way home tonight.

Yes, my Alfa. There was oil in it 2 weeks ago (needed topping up every 6-8 weeks) and it passed it's MOT with flying colours last week. Had it 6 months with no problems... should have been expecting a big one!

A little vibration through the car, it held back a little as I eased off, checked the dash - no warning lights, temp guage steady in the middle... thought maybe a brake had stuck on? Touched the throttle again and BANG! just like the F1 cars laugh not funny at the time.

Found the above on the undertray while waiting for the RAC.

So, that's "owned an Alfa, had it break on me" ticked off on the Petrolhead's List of Things To Do Before You Die wink

Will you be a true petrolhead and fix the Alfa and continue to use it ?

Because it never happens on any other car. Ever. Not even my Dad's BMW 5 series? Or my mates van? or, probably, hundreds of 'other' cars every year?

A bit of fresh oil and that'll be just fine.

Hmmmmm, only cost me £1200 so although the rest is tidy and working, I think it may have to become an organ donor for the life of other Alfas frown

But I have already asked my garage bloke to ring around for a spare engine and give me a quote wink
