What is the oldest new car currently on sale in the UK? I suppose a Landy Defender may count. Since Rover packed up, everything else looks fairly modern

That you can actually buy from a mainstream brand officialy in the UK? Has to be the Defender.

Other than that, probably the MG TF and VW Sharan which both date back to the mid-90s.

It's the Audi A3 isn't it? That seems to have been in production with very little change for the last 15 years.

Taking the question from another angle, I've seen a fair few Mk I Skoda Octavia minicabs around the Glasgow area on as new as an 09-plate, despite the fact they haven't sold them here since around 2004. Are these really cars that have been sitting around unregistered and unused in taxi supply firm's lots for five years, I wonder?
