Morning transport decisions, anyone else have the problem?

Finally I live in a place where I don't need to do the parking shuffle to avoid the parking wardens. Everything has a permit, or fits onto the driveway meaning I can take what I like in the morning, rather than having to take the car that doesn't have a permit.

So now I have the dilemma of what to take in the morning and (seriously) it can take a while to choose. If the weather is good it's between the motorbike, the pushbike, the TVR or the Porsche. If it's cloudy or wet, it's the Merc or the 944, if I have a PH business meet to do it's the TVR (to be very PH) or the Merc (to take the mileage)

It's becoming a daily 'chore' to decide, anyone else have the same problem? It's quite a nice problem to have

I have this problem too..

Wether or not to take your Porsche or your TVR when it's sunny and you've gone on your bike,
or if it's raining, whether I can be bothered going through all the hastle of hooking your keys through the letter box to take out the merc.





But no. It's either car or bike, and it's determined by whether I can be bothered to "leather up", or stay in bed a bit longer

I'd like to have a good collection to choose from tho, so I may be a bit envious

Easy choice for me VX220 unless it's snowing or I have to collect huge amounts of ale or something. Then I take Passat 4motion Estate. To far to cycle although oneday I will do it, 40mile round trip.

One of the criteria for when we move house will be access to the garage even if the Volvo is parked on the drive. At the moment the Volvo blocks the garage, so if I want to take the 7 or Mustang (were it road legal ) I have to move the Volvo, get the 7 out, put the Volvo back and then go. At 7:30am that's just too much hassle usually.

If the OH needs the car, then I'll either go through that rigmarole, or get the bus/cycle/run to work, weather and post-work plan dependent too.

My problem is whether to take the bimmer or the push bike.

Nice sunny day and it's the bike everytime. Rainy, windy day and its the car. It's when its sunny but windy or cloudy and windy that I need to make the choice. Plus it's hard not to want to take the bimmer when its a gorgeous sunny day...

Grab the keys to a comfy, pokey BM with a nice stereo

Grab the keys to a rattly, recalcitrant MGB with out of balance wheels and sills made primarily of air

Grab the keys to the the 928, and then put them down after realising that it's been in the bodyshop for 6 weeks while the bloke who's pulling the dents out has been on holiday

Grab the keys to the Land Rover, then realise I've actually forgotten what it looks like because while it was sitting waiting for a rebuilt gearbox in my mate's yard, some scrote nabbed the Cats off it, and because it's an unusual model they're like rocking horse st.

So the choice is pretty easy at the moment

For me its a choice between my scoob or my diesel 306, the scoob is relatively comfy, has AC, and a decent enough amount of power. The 306 is noisy (not in a good way), it's slower than your common or garden snail, rattles like a bd and at various speeds the steering wheel tries to shake your arms off - which it might just succeed at doing, assuming the exercise-spec windows don't manage it first!

That said the 306 is quite a bit more frugal than the Impreza, giving me 450+ miles to the tank even when thrashed to within an inch of its' miserable life. So for the daily grind the Pug keys are the ones in my hand so that when I'm not on the commute I can afford to pick up the scooby keys

I have been faced with this problem fairly recently, it was either the T5 Transporter, Golf GTi 16v or a VW Caddy VR6, and everyday I found myself getting into the Transporter, as frankly that's what I like driving most.

So the Caddy has gone back to my mate, which is a shame as it really is a wolf in sheeps clothing (not many people expect a MK2 Caddy van to be packing a VR6 punch) and the Golf is currently on loan to a good friend of mine (who actually really likes it)

However, getting the Type-R out of the garage means faffing about, and invariably needs petrol putting in it.

Also, the MOT has run out on the Integra which I need doing, hence toe rather more boring Civic has been doing a lot of work lately.

A friend of mine has an MX5 and a GSXR1000. If its sunny she has a hard choice sometimes...

Garlick, do your bike test and buy yourself a CBR600RR or something, and then when its sunny you'll never want to take anything else.

I love having a bit of variety and different cars that offer different thrills and experiences.

Just a shame I only drive 2-3 miles to the station most days though....

I'm glad it's a faff to get the TVR out - trickle chargers, security devices, cars in the way etc - otherwise I'd keep driving it.
