Insurance repair job
Discussion
Apologies for the long thread in advance!! So my missus planted my P&J into the back of a 5 series almost a month ago and left it with a few scuffs and scratches on it. We decided to do it through insurance as the repair/respray would've cost more than our excess a calculated insurance rise.
It took 14 days for the repair company to come and get the car and they left us for 4 days with no courtesy car as they had none in, fair enough I thought, good weather followed by rain probably caused a few crashes so they're probably busy, not an issue. They then took the car away for 9 days and returned it yesterday, now the fun part starts...
The front bumper that they resprayed has 4 bubbles about half the size of a 1p coin and I think the guy who sprayed it must've been trimming his pubes at the same time as there's 7 (that I have found) short hairs trapped under the laquer coating. They have also done something to the bonnet which means the catch doesn't close properly and causes the alarm to go off every half an hour and royally screw our neighbours off as we're out of the house all day.
We've now had to leave the bonnet unlocked as this is the only way we've found to stop the alarm going off and the company say it's going to be next Wednesday before they can 'fit us in' to sort out their balls ups. Security isn't a major issue as we live in a nice area and my neighbour is a curtain twitcher so keeps a watch on the happenings in the neighbourhood! On top of this, my missus has had to phone round a few local Vauxhall dealers to try and find a quick fix to sort this alarm problem and has been asked by the repair shop to let them know what Vauxhall recommend to do!!!
So, basically, what would you say my comeback is on the garage? Am I within 'my rights' (I HATE that phrase!!) to ask for a refund of some of our excess or a full respray to remove the car park dings as a gesture of goodwill?
