Gallardo everyday?
Discussion
personally i'd soon get tired of using it every day : parking, low speed manoeuvring and leaving it anywhere would be a pita
with any sort of mileage, the running costs and depreciation would mount up
get a sensible car and save the gallardo for high days
eta car's fine in snow until the front grills start scooping-up the deep stuff

Used mine everyday. Purchased in October 08, sold the following July. Saw all kinds of weather, and didn't skip a beat. Mileage was relatively low, as I live not too far from the office.
Having said that, I would not do it again. Getting in and out of long doors in driving rain got a bit too much in the end. Would have been nice to have an alternative for the days the weather really "got up".

Yeah, agree with these guys.
I find it a bit of an event,i work 500 yards up my road so no point in
firing it up each morning
I reckon it would be about mileage, costs would`nt be that great and the time spent in the car
would`nt tire you out if it was local .
I love my lambo,i also love my 01 escort van for work mode, boy do i not care about kurbs
in that thing.
Don`t let any of this put you off,see if you can get a drive in one,you will probably know
what we mean.
Lambo= driver input,escort van=almost zero.
cheers

Not a Gallardo, but I bought a 360 about 6 months ago and do use it a lot; even in heavy rain. I have another car to do the commute in, but still find an excuse to drive the 360 on most days. It is kept outside for the time being, but will be underground from August.
I lost my commuting car for 2 weeks and was forced to use the 360 for EVERYTHING and it did become a bit of a drag. The specialness feeling started to wear off and I just felt I shouldn't be using it everyday in conditions I couldn't enjoy it (like the mundane 15 mile drive to work in the pouring rain.) I would get a runaround, but just use the Gallardo as much as you can.

I'd disagree. I had one last year and used it as an only car.
I live near airport so would get a taxi for holidays and had a mate with a big van and would use that for taking stuff to the dump.
Yes, its expensive to run, but think about it; it you shell out £2 on a 2nd hand run about, then by the time youve insured it, mot'd, tax etc - you could spend that 2.5K on additional fuel and service on the G.
Parking on a packed residential street was the only downside.
Ask yourself, whats the difference in a 'daily drive' car between a 911 and a Gallardo? ...not much really. Get one.

Gilbo, I think we spoke recently about T350-Gallardo? I might be wrong.
Anyways, I had one for 10 months as an everyday car (don't drive to work) and quickly got fed up with it if I'm honest. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but I just found it a chore to drive any other time than going out for a 'drive'. Sounds strange I know..

Just got back from a test drive in a V10 R8. Obviously, given the comments I made earlier in the thread, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the R8 for you. Totally different kettle to the Gallardo, considering many similarities.
Ride is much softer, but plenty hard enough, especially with the magnetic button pressed.
No where near as loud until opened up, but plenty of noise with the sport button pressed.
Gear change smoother (r-tronic vs e-gear) but I'm told the LP560 is much improved from the 08 model I had.
If I had to choose a daily runner of the two, then the R8 would win. If however, you are looking for the better driving experience, then the Gallardo by some stretch.
If you can run to it, I would suggest the Gallardo backed up by an everyday workhorse.
Having said all of the above, I am actually very keen on getting the R8 - in Spyder format, to run alongside my RRSport. For me, this kind of ticks everyday summer and winter, if you see what I mean.
Cheers Bradders.
