Thanks for the warning, I would have bought those if I'd seen them, I love potted shrimps.
Morrisons sell the Morcambe Bay ones too at certain stores but I get mine from Ocado just to prevent disappointment. Their potted crab is awful though... still saving up for the potted lobster.
Have you ever made your own? I'm tempted to give it a whirl sometimes.
You don't often see brown shrimp on sale in England - or at least not in Surrey.
A more common sight in France under the name of 'crevettes grises'. They can be gritty and a bit of a faff to peel, but they're very flavoursome.
Potting is the best way of approaching them I think. You'll be peeling the little buggers for hours to get enough for a decent-sized prawn cocktail.
