What's to discuss? They aren't rivals.

One;s a museum piece the other's not yet built.

Well the same people who built Thrust and now building a new one, called Bloodhound.

It is going to try and beat the landspeed record.

What would you like to discuss?

I think the colour should have been a light blue....

IS this what you wanted?

It has an 800 bhp engine from a Lister Storm to power the fuel pump for the rocket and to provide hydraulic pressure.

Thats just cool.

Thrust looks cooler but ah well as long as it keeps us ahead of the Americans it can look like a giant dong for all I care.

The MCT V12 is quite a thing in itself (much developed from the Lister Storm days?), very light and very powerful.

It has a fuel pump 4x more powerful then my car just to squirt a bit of fuel about. I'm actually semi hard.

It looks great. I'm really glad the British are still continuing our fine tradition in even doing this kind of thing.

Why RSA instead of the USA for the attempt?

To annoy the Yanks? or less worried about H&S/ suing someone if it breaks some windows. Or more sensibly possibly better weather/ground/longer area.

Apparently the Black Rock surface is now in very poor condition after a lack of rain (10 years!)and from the Burning Man festival, which amongst other things make it unsuitable.

how many miles do you need? I'm quite surprised some super rich yank has not built a ultra flat super wide 25/50 mile straight.

From the Bloodhound link it's not necessarily length that is the issue, it's consistency of both surface and weather over the 2 or 3 seasons of runs they think they'll need to reach target speed.

Give a British man a big enough shed and not quite enough money, and he will do miracles.

This video has nothing what so ever to do with the landspeed record

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aSVfYwdGSsQ

but it gives an idea of the speeds involved as they aim to go 350Mph faster

I have every confidence that Richard will achieve this, just as I did with Thrust 2 and SSC.

Yes - It seems incredible to imagine doing 1000 mph (it's about a 50% increase on the currenct LSR), but they managed to break the sound barrier on the groud, so it'd be unwise to bet against them doing it!

Turning circle's a fking nightmare though. Couldn't park it in the co-op, had to leave it on the street.
