MODs - I know this is a bit of a begging letter but please bear with me....

My brother, brother in law, sister and I are looking to take part in a 'banger rally' this summer and we are scratching around a little for a car. Rules state we cannot spend more than £250 though the car will only need an MOT til mid September so damage to body, split gaiters, worn exhausts and other minor MOT fail points will not present an issue.

Does anyone have anything we can use? We arent asking for a free lunch but with such a large readership are hoping that someone might be in a position to help? I can cast my net wide and pick up from East Sussex, SE London and the West of Kent if anyone has a ropey car they are wondering what to do with?

We have kept an eye on ebay, local free ads etc but even scrappers are blowing the budget so hence the post!

Try going to your local main dealers, they quite often get in cheap old cars like these that are often sent for scrap; I'm sure if you asked nicely enough they'd let you have something suitable for not a lot of money.

I just sold one last week - look on gumtree and places like that....be quick though as the dealers pounce on anything with a decent length of MoT that they can bodge and sell on....
