Is car ownership a linear progression from first shed to your motoring dream? Is every car better than the last? Or did your car peak several models ago. Simply, is your current car the best car you've ever had?

Different criteria as time goes by.

Does the current car (well, fleet) meet my current need? Yes. Does the daily beat the 944 Turbo? Nope smile

For sheer driving fun the Caterham is certainly the best car I've ever owned. For ferrying stuff around and to the tip the V50 is much much better, but the Caterham is still my favourite and the OH has again said today I'm not allowed to sell it despite us expecting a baby shortly thumbup

My current Clio 200 is the best car I've owned (For driving & fun) but my favorite had to be my '89 Camaro Iroc-Z, every outing in that was an event.

It's the best (road) car I've ever driven, let alone owned.

Yes, but then again this is only my second car and a 2.0 MX-5 is much better than 1.2 8v Clio.

Easily, I always told myself I'd own 2 cars - a TVR and a Lamborghini - I'm still working at #2 biggrin

'Best' or 'Favourite'? - They're very different things!

TVR - yes.
Will never sell it.

Working on getting something to keep it company though...

My current daily hack is a vectra. So that will be a big fat NO then.

Mine definitely is.

So far I've managed to get a 'better' car every time I change.

I think I might struggle next time though. The e46 M3 is so good for the money I'm not sure I'll be able to get something significantly better without a nice pay rise.
(especially as my car needs to be a 4 seater, and I can't realistically have 2 cars)

As I'd always wanted a TVR since I first heard and saw one, then my current Chimaera hits the spot.

Unfortunately for my bank balance, I can't just stop at a Chimaera. I had a go in a Tuscan S6 a while back, and that made the Chim feel like a Mondeo. The racecar soundtrack, razor throttle-response, knife-edge steering and going-into-hyperspace straightline performance are too much to resist. Won't be for a long while, as my current Tiv is in pieces to the moment. If I'm unlucky enough to require a rebuild on an RV8, I don't fancy my luck with the Speed Six!

Difficult question to answer.

I said, "no" but the car that was my favourite I would not want now. I prefer the car I currently have today but don't like it as much as my favourite at the time when I had that. Different times, different cars.

I love my GTV to bits: it looks gorgeous inside and out, goes and handles reasonably well, has probably the best V6 engine to ever grace a road car and sound absolutely glorious with its new, straight-through sports exhaust. But I'd still rather have my Ferrari back... weeping

If the Libra wasn't, I'd have built something else by now.

Favourite and best aren't the same. My favourite was my Puma, the best was my 197. I'd have the Puma back in a heartbeat.

If you take best as a mechanical/experience blend then I suppose the CL is the best, but I just don't really 'like' it in the same way I did my XJ, or the Fiesta I had when I was 18 for that matter. I voted no anyway.
