Camera for work

I need to get a couple of PS cameras for work.
I do inspection on an offshore platform so something with a decent macro/close focus ability, reasonable zoom (quite a wide angle lense up to about 4 or 5x would do)and good picture quaity is required, over about 4MP isn't really important as the pictures will be resized to be sent in reports.
It'll also need to be slightly robust as where we work is sometimes petty nasty (although just replacing the camera once a year also works).
We're currently using Fuji finepix AB20 cameras, but someones noticed that the company is hiring these at £4 per day, each.
Over the Fuji a wider angle lense (you quite often can't get far enough away) and better close focussing would be good.
