I got cornered at a family birthday party today - a lady guest is moving out to Spain for 2 years shortly and will be travelling around Europe in her consulting role. She asked me if I could help her find a LHD 2+2 sports/coupe for £15K.

She's no fool when it comes to cars having owned various cars over the years like a Porsche, BMW, Bristol!, Merc, etc, and she asked me to come up with something interesting.

It has to be reasonably economical (20+ mpg), reliable above all else, a 2+2 and fun to drive. And it has to be LHD (any ideas where to source would be appreciated!)

I've had too much bubbly to think straight, so over to you.....!

I got as far as a BMW 630i - but not sure if the earliest ones have reached this price point....

Right, so, thanks Ewenm (I spelt your name right this time) - that is a bloody good left-field suggestion!

A LHD V6 would be perfect - are they reliable and easy to have serviced/worked on/

I think they are pretty bombproof and being Ford should be ok to work on all over the place, assuming you're talking about modern ones. There's a V8 convertible in the classifieds for £15k and lots of V6 examples, although IMO a V8 is required for a Mustang...earscloud9

Mustang. 15k should get a reasonable new shape V6. Maybe even a cab. Or with a bit of luck a coupe v8.

You can fix them with a hammer. You deffo do not want the V6 though, it is rubbish.

4.6 V8 GT should do the trick; mine does.
