Well today I have started my quest to find a tidy manual 430 or Gallardo. Unfortunately the 430 I looked at was not as immaculate as I hoped so the search continues, in fact I was a little surprised ny the overall state of the car so my question is will I be able to find a very tidy example of either model for between £70 and £80k?

One thing I have found over the years is that one mans idea of immaculate is very different to mine so does anyone have any insider knowledge of a suitably good condition car that may be available or soon to become available?

David.

This may sound, but why either a Gallardo or 430? Is it not safer to decide which you want then try to source a good one?

But you are quite right, "good" or "immaculate" condition mean very different things to different people....

Have you tried an F1 430, bit more choice with F1.

Hello John,

No I have not tried either with the paddle shift but having recently sold a Nissan GTR to get a manual Porsche I much prefer the manual gearbox.

How can you say you prefer the manual box without trying the e-gear/F1? There have been many many converts who were previous 'manual only' people.................

Because I prefer changing gear with a gear lever. The GTR had a similar paddle set up and I wasn't keen on it, in fact it was damn right boring. I also drove a 360 F1 a few years ago and wasn't impressed with that either.

Hi KTR,

The GTR box and 360 box are very different from the 430 box, I used to think I wanted manual 430 too until I tried the F1 box, it's bloody brilliant. You really should try it, even if just to confirm your thoughts and discount it. I can't speak for e-gear I've not tried it.

John.

The F1 box is very good. However, I still opted for the manual, as ultimately it gives you more driver involvement and the F430 is the last chance (it appears) you have to get the classic manual gate in a Ferarri. The best feeling in the world is when you brake hard for a corner, heal/toe blip the throttle. Added to the fact that manuals were slightly cheaper, are prone to less clutch wear and F1 related gearbox problems, for me it was a no brainer as I was never into the playstation generation.
