expect the obvious speed limts etc but hopefully we'll see some original & interesting ideas? Maybe even a little humour if we're really lucky...

If it is permitted, I'd like to create one!

Make it illegal to drive in the outer lane on DC's and Motorways when there is space to drive to your left.

make the driving test harder. Then only people who have an ability to drive can get a licence. Will cut deaths on the roads and congestion. Would be political suicide tho

or more sensibly, an mot test every two years not one for cars under ten years old. Modern cars are so much better than when i was a pup and the reality is there are incredibly few vehicle defects that casue accidents. (Its the eejuts behind the wheel-see option 1)

Make it illegal to overtake without a speed differential greater than walking pace.

The stupid one that limits HGVs to 40mph on single carriageways.

YES! Probably more responsible for accidents than speeding I'd guess. But more difficult to earn money from so it isn't policed in the same way as speeding is.

Only if you add '...and there is someone behind you." - If it's quiet, holding in lane two or three can have significant safety benefits.

I'd like to see traffic lights turned off at night, replaced by flashing amber as they do in Germany. I couldn't believe how much quicker it made journeys.

Fair comment. I agree.

I'd ban the unemployed from the roads. Not including people who have been made redundant, people who have actually worked, rather those fkers that bomb around in S-reg Fiestas, deeply unroadworthy and being driven with complete disregard for the lives of anyone else. You know the sort, the kind of pricks that shout abuse at random pedestrians, run red lights and carve up every vehicle in sight because the fking dole office is closing soon and their smack dealer will be heading out to Wester Hailes in 15 minutes. wkers.

Edit, I'd settle for just being able to turn left on a red light though.

Slightly different but I would like a law that restricts HGVs to only travelling on roads and motorways between 20:00hrs and 06:00hrs. I think that may end lots of our current traffic problems. IMHO

Worthy suggestion, but most Supermarkets are in urban areas (our loading bay for example is surrounded by houses) If the lorries are restricted to driving in those hours, then we'd have to have middle of the night deliveries - not going to be popular with very many people, I wouldn't have thought! wink

don't think we'll give you this one to be honest, see above + its probably not HGV's holding us up most of the time & if it is we have the stupid 40mph law to blame as already mentioned. sorry.

The one where if you decide to go to court to challenge a motoring offence and win, you can't claim your costs back.

Agreed. Let's not get into the whole "There are many more cars than lorries on the roads" argument.
