Hi there,

Spent yesterday at Silverstone for the first day of the classic.

Most of the day was sat at the side of the track shooting the stunning cars that were racing. As soon as I have worked through my track shots I will post them here.

In the meantime here are some of the supercars and other bits and bobs that were on display and in the car parks.

Ferrari 575 - quite rare to see one in Yellow

Well imagine my surprise at seeing another not 500 yds away

As usual the Porsche display was stunning. This was my favourite

and how about a smattering of MK2 GT3 RS's

Gorgeous 993 Turbo S

Police, did someone call the Police

Spotted in the same car park as the white GT3 RS above, McLaren F1

This made a change from Red. A purple Daytona

Ferrari F50

Managed to catch this stunner heading for the paddock

New Morgan Supersports

Jaguar XJ220 - an true classic

Love these little A35's.

Was talking to the guy who had brought the SLS along. He works for Mercedes as part of the development team and had been allowed to bring the car along to 'get it in front of 50,000' people'. He let me have a good look around the car and was surprised when I told him there was another one parked in the BRDC car park in the same colour

Hope you like the pics

Regards

Tim

You might have been a tad less surprised if you'd realized it was the same car with fake plates on (look at the stickers in the windscreen).

There were also two of these on the Mercedes stand in front of the Harley stand. Although one of them may have been that red one.

There werent that many there and the lambo section was tucked away at the back.

Most of them were staying at Whittlebury Hall where we were so we had a good look around them there.

The powder blue Muira SV was the star. Utterly gorgeous.

'Twiggy' Miura on Saturday was the star for me and it's always a pleasure to see 'LAM 1' 350 GT.

...the pistachio green car seen on Saturday isn't the 'Twiggy' Miura which was originally white and actually belonged to her manager/husband(?) and was used for many promotional shots involving people like Twiggy ('bviously) and Sandie Shaw (seen below, image courtesy of the divine Ms Shaw... dribble)

ANM 90H, the pistachio green Miura S that was seen on Saturday has always been that colour and was frequently seen in various magazines in the eighties and nineties as it used to belong to LCUK's treasurer in those days. Now it belongs to another Club member who has another Miura and an even rarer one-off Lamborghini as well, as y' do...

by the way, LAM 1 is actually a 400GT 2+2 but you're certainly right in one respect, it's always a pleasure to see it! lick

Love the SLS and love Mercedes' promotion of this car.

At the Geneva motor show, all-comers could sit in at (scuff marks on the carbon sill covers made me cringe but such things are easily remidied).

I was also at Europa Park recently, a theme park in Germany, and Merc have built a rollercoaster there and they have an SLS on display in the waiting area and SLS themed PlayStation games for the public to try.

David Coulthard was recently on the Isle of Man demonstrating how fast he could get it upto!

I can see this car becoming the bedroom wall poster car for a generation....

P.S. If you look closely at the above photo's you may notice that you can see the reflection of the spokes of the wheels on the carbonceramic discs. Looks really odd when you see it as it's almost a mirror-finish. I wonder if they will stay that shiny after hard use.

You look as if you have almost calmed down by that pic!! I dont think i have had a passenger who has commented so frequently on how useful the foot rest in the passenger footwell was! I doubt we even got above 100mph on the parade lap and only one fast corner!

Enjoyed the days there and meeting so many people both on our club and other stands

Footrest was needed for bracing whilst trying to manhandle your colossal f'kin' camera to take pictures through the window as some (but by no means all) the other Lamborghinis danced around us... did I say that I am not in the least bit a skilled camera operator even when there's just one button to faff with and the camera weighs less than a single slice of chewing gum?

If I didn't mention that handicap and if any of the pictures are of any use, you can thank the footrest as it is obviously a experienced on-track photography expert and was able to force the skills through my grasping toes!...

I was there all three days and knew there were other stands but for some reason, yet again, I saw almost none of them frown
