Seems like there are some really cheap deals to Greece this summer, Corfu, Crete etc. Only drawback is the possibility of strikes, which is why I assume the holidays are so cheap.

Anyone else taken the plunge?

Don't fancy 1-2 nights sleeping in the airport no matter what a grand of savings may bring.

Might be worth the risk if you fly on a weekend. The Greeks tend to strike on a Thursday or Friday, giving themselves a nice long weekend. wink

I went a few weeks ago to Rhodes. Wednesday to wednesday got 4-5 hour delays both ways because of ATC. On the way out there we had to be delayed so that we would enter Greek airspace bang on midnight, as that was when their strike finished. The same on the return flight, not being able to take off till midnight which was more like half 1 once they had caught up on the back log of flights.. Puts a real downer on the holiday.frown

We're off to Paxos early October so possibility things may have got back to normal a little. Either way it's Monday to Monday flighs anyway.

work collegue has just got back from Greece (Samos I think), no delays, very hot. Only thing he said was that for shorts / cocktails it was something like 22 euros for a JD & Coke and a Martini cocktail. Otherwise food quite reasonable as were carafs of wine.

I can't wait. Strikes would never put me off going.
