Does anyone have a view about sourcing say an Integra (DC2 & DC5) from NI.

Jap performance fodder seems more common there.
..And they seem cheaper.
I can't decide if it's because they're relatively less off and isolated.. or if they end up with the duff ones...or if they diddle SVA'ing or what...?????

Does anyone have any views/scare stories?

This might just broaden out into a thing about whther or not it just makes sense to get something that was brought in by Litchfield new...

Less hoops to jump through to get an import registered in the RoI, esp if under 10 years old.

As I understand it if a car has been previously registered in the RoI, you don't need to get it SVA'd and rent a model report etc when bringing it to the UK.

I believe that is the case yes. Car is brought into RoI, registered, then brought into NI/UK without the hoopla of the SVA.

You just register it, tax it and MOT it like you would bringing in an import over 10 years direct to the UK.

Do bear in mind though, the prices for Jap imports are massively inflated at the moment due to the poor Y-£ exchange rate. The price over the past 18months has doubled.

interesting...

..it might already be an irrelevance because for no reason whatsoever my MCS seems to have lost £750 in the last month and a half if you believe the asking prices in these classifieds.

boo.

The roads back home are crap and the cars usually get a harder life compared to cars on the mainland that build up a lot Motorway miles usually.

A mate bought a JDM car from NI last year, had no problems whatsoever!
