Next job, replace the carpet.

Hi guys, as titled, is nearing the top of my 'to do' list. If anybody has done this latly can you remember how many square metres of carpet you used? Also which is best rubber backed or the other stuff? (failing memory). I found one supplier on the usful links are there any more reasonable ones? Antisipating much fun with glue, thanks Steve.

I did this myself some time ago now.

I bought a roll end from the carpet stall on the market (actually Ricky Hattons Mum) for about £50, think it was about 3 meters long and was felt backed.

After removing all of the old carpet I traced round and cut out.

For those pieces that are trimmed, I asked a local Upholsterer to trim them, he charged £80.

Stuck all pieces down with sprayable EVO Stick Contact adhesive.

Nice professional look at the end.

I did mine a couple of years ago, I purchased a roll of axeminster, 12x6 ft. I collected it from the wilton carpet factory and had them cut it in half as it wouldn`t fit in the S. I used the old carpets as a pattern and had an upholsterer to do the edgings on the footwell mats.I used copydex adhesive which was recommended, BandQ sold the adhesive but it smells bad until it`s cured. I think it is a great finish with the Chimaera seats.

That looks great, do you have any pics of the rear shelf (minus the mat) I am at this stage and without a pattern I am finf=ding it near impossin=ble to get it neat around the rear wheel arches and seatbelt mounts

Sorry Steve I don`t, I did the job over a weekend and must admit the wheel arch was difficult as was the seat belt area, maybe someone else will have a picture to help. Start up a new thread and I`m sure someone will oblige.

The ebay link is where I bought mine from for doing the thread on my site that Steve J posted above. The stuff is easy to use and quite pliable, but it is not the same as the wool feel of the original. It is very nylony but won't rot, is lighter and is easy to clean so suits me - just don't expect the same "feel"
