Arse - A46 into Bath down the hill (50mph) active?
Discussion
:sigh: Had to happen i suppose, tosser here has just been gatso'd, somewhere around 60 maybe 65-ish in a 50mpoh zone.
Was coming down the dual carriageway hill into Bath - usual situation 1am, nobody else about, absolutely no danger at all, moron here lets his speed slip up a bit as I am nearly home and forgot about Gasto (only lived here a week, second time I have gone past it).
I got the flashes, I guess that means I will get an invitation to lose £60....? Ah well, its not like I need the money or anything!
Buff
PS - I know its my own fault, but doesn't stop me feeling p'd off - especially when some igiot in a merc just swerved across three lanes of the M4 and nearly got me in the barrier, about twenty minutes earlier.... Reckon he must have dozed off, think the horn woke him though

Sadly I know of several people who have been caught by that camera - which is pretty unfortunate as it gets toasted on a very regular basis. Unsurprising that, seeing as it is at the bottom of a hill on a brand new, wide open dual carriageway. Avon and Somerset always avoid the issue when asked how accident statistics can support the installation of a camera on a brand new road.
Still, welcome to the area, if you don't know your way around you'll find plenty of excellent driver's roads, many of which are currently unbesmirched by revenue collectors.

On your website it states
"There are strict guidelines on the positioning of cameras.
Fixed roadside cameras operate on stretches of road where there have been at least four people killed or seriously injured, or eight personal injury collisions, in the previous three years."
Please have this text amended since it is not true

Thank you for your communication 12 Jan.
Batheaston camera site was introduced by Bath & North East Somerset prior to the introduction of the camera partnership (Operation start date December 1999).
This site was identified to the Department for Transport as a site that did not show a casualty history for the years 2002/3 and 2003/4 period, but speed monitoring indicated that it continued to have a speeding problem.
Speed limits are introduced by the Local Authority based on road design and other highway safety issues in the interest of safety.
Therefore the site has remained as a deterent to motorist speeding. Some enforcement may be permitted by DfT to take place based on the information provided. The bases for this is to ensure casualty reduction is maintained

And SCP made it worse, when everyone complained that the old road was an NSL and then when you reached the new dual carrigway with no accident history because it was new was 50 they responded. They reduced the limit on the NSL to 50 cerching! You need to watch that road as they also have a van in the laybuy at the bottom of the hill just before the camera and also have taken to parking at the top of the hill where the tea van is. So you overtake the slow moving lorries in the crawler lane and if not aware think it is a tea van as you go past and get your picture taken.
Ho hum, I'll expect the letter inthe post then - first week in a new job too, nice way to start off, getting a fine int he pool car! DOH
Still, I shall keep safe in the knowledge, that morally I am right here...
M-A-M, ta!
Re-discovered the fosse way, which will be a pleasure to take the motor on, once I have it running again. Luckily it almost directly links me to my mother's house. She'll think its christmas...!
