Brake upgrade advice

Iv got a 96 4.2 cerbera. The brakes have never been that amazing on it, so im planning to get some new pads, discs and change the fluid. The question i have is firstly are there any bigger discs on the market, i remember reading that the front uprights are different on the earlier cars, how would i be able to tell whether mine is this kind?
Also what are the est pads to go for?

The options are limited.

We got some bells made up that we can replace the rotors (discs) with bigger ones and some have already fitted them to their cars already (mine aren't fitted yet).

Agree, the standard brakes aren't great. Mine were upgraded to very large MOVIT 2 piece discs and calipers and it transforms the car with fade free braking even on hot trackdays.
I'm not suggesting you need to go this far as they are very expensive, but upgrading the brakes is a good idea. What do you want to use it for, track or road? The answer to this
will guide what upgrades are most appropriate.

I Remember reading about the bells being made, would i be able to buy a set or where they specially made.

I dont really do many track days and am not particularly heavy on my brakes so i just need a fast road setup..

I've got a '96 car with the original brakes, I really don't know what pads are in it as I've never changed them, however the braking is fantastic for road use. If you're not after track performance, I'd start by putting in a decent set of pads and making sure that your standard discs are in good condition.

ive got a 96 4.2 with screaming brakes looked around and talked to few cerb owners and they all seem to go for EBC pads yellow for fast road use and red for fast road and track, red take longer to bed in but have real bite on the hard days on the track,ive just orderd yellow from deemon tweeks £100 all corners will post at the weekend what they feel like ,

My main reason for planning to upgrade the brakes was to be able to fit harder discs which would allow me to use the Carbon Lorraine pads I have (the pads wear down the discs instead of the other way around).

These would be brilliant for track day use but I'm looking at a couple of other cars in the next few weeks and if I buy one of them it would mean the Cerb would be seeing very little of the track in the future.

If this happens then I'll sell my new bells for what they cost me (and if it doesn't then they'll be going on the car).

Let me know if they might be of interest to you.

Remember that you'll have to fit larger rotors and caliper spacers and will need at least 18" rims to take the bigger (better) brakes.

Yes i would definatly be up for having them off you if they become available. I suppose the size of the spacing bracket is dependant on what size rotor you go for? Did you just get the bells or did you end up getting the whole lot, ie, Spacers for the calipers, bells and rotors? Does anyone know where to get the caliper spacers from?

I just have the bells.

I have info in the office on the rotors, etc. and the spacers would have to be made up.

AFAIK R8nan on here has some info on the spacers.

Used the 330mm - spent a fair amount of time waiting for the parts worrying I'd have a lot of rather expensive bits I couldn't use.





Don't have a pic of the wheel on the car but theres enough clearance for me to get my fingers between the caliper and inner rim of the wheel. Also got my caliper spacers from R8nan, top guy, very helpful.
