Looking for an ML of 99/00/01 vintage with sub 100k miles on the clock - probably a 320 petrol - other than rust and making sure all the electrics work, anything else I should look out for in particular??

I had a 320 on a W plate some years ago and the build quality was shocking. Apart from the annoying things like trim falling off etc, I had to replace the cats on both exhausts just after the 3yr warranty ran out.
A quick look at the exhaust left you in no doubt that they had failed due to poor manufacturing.
Shame really as I think it's one of the nicest looking 4x4's out there but I wouldn't have another one.

Hiya, I had a ML270CDi, 2002 - 60,000 miles when i sold it, was honestly thee most unreliable car I've ever owned and wouldn't recommend it to anyone, it's not even a good drive compared to X5.

Things that went wrong with mine:
Battery died
Track rods?
Rear suspension is based on a system where you can't just replace a spring or shock, you need to replace the full unit.
Steering Rack Collapsed, cost a fortune to replace!!!

Honestly, would really think about something else. I always like mercedes and now on my 4th but wouldnt recommend an ML
