Steering Rack Removal

Looking for tips on removing my steering rack on Mk 1 Tuscan. Has anyone done it? Thought I saw a thread once, but can no longer find it.
Basic step by step guide would be more than useful.- thanks

Basically everything at the front around the rack needs to come out to allow the rack to be removed. It was a pain of a job.

How long did it take you? Did you take any photos you could send?

It took me about 2 days in the end to swap the rack over. Had I known from the start what to remove it would have been a lot quicker.

There was a thread on the Cerb forum with some pics but I can't get the search function to work at moment.

Okay - I'm going for it.

Car up on stands, Removed water tank, removed oil tank, disconnected hydraulic hoses to rack, disconnected and removed track rod ends. All thats left now is to disconnect the coupler to steering column and unbolt the rack. Then the fun begins to wiggle it out. Thats enough for tonight.

Not sure if you've got it out already but a couple of pointers.

Removing the HP hoses on the rack itself helps give a bit more wiggle room.

You need to slide the rack across into the NS wheel arch as far as it will go and then point RHS track rod up and slide it back across and up through the chassis. You may need to disconnect and lift the oil cooler to get it far enough across.

Where are you sending it? There are a few companies I can advise you to avoid!!

Have considered Driveshafts.co.uk an another recommended on the Cerb forum (cant remember name right now) So, not really decided yet....Who should I avoid?

There is a company on the meridian who I'd avoid and another in the west country.
