What car to tide me over ?
Discussion
Following on from my motorway car thread, I've raised the idea of a car allowance with work.
They are not opposed to it, so whilst the cogs slowly turn I need a car that can do 500 mile round trips regularly whilst keeping me in comfort, doing decent mpg and not exploding.
It also needs to be easy to shift on when this allowance thing gets sorted, I'd also like to pay max 4k
Any ideas?

I bought a 51reg Celica 1.8vvti in February for less than £3000, just until my new car gets here from japan. Its been comfortable on the long trips ive done, including York to Falmouth one weekend.
6 Speed, 38MPG and when I do come to sell it in a couple of months I would hope to get most of that money back. Its the higher spec one with Leather, electric moonroof, sony CD and digital Climate.
May even keep it as a third car as the wife actually enjoys driving it.
There are a lot of overpriced ones out there though.
