Last week's had an Red Bull liveried VW "racing*" snowmobile competitors from the X games (mentioned) wearing at least one Red Bull hat.

I watched 10 minutes of an old TG on Dave today as a break and found May "racing"* two BMXs around Budapest. Bost the riders were wearing Red Bull Helmets.

Are there any other appearances?

Surely the amount of monster branding with ken block counters it all?

Not many other people sponsor extreme sports types. Certainly not in as many crazy categories as redbull..

Red Bull sponsor a lot of "extreme" stuff... it's part of their brand DNA. As a result, if you want something a bit off the wall...

I'm not convinced that it is coincidence. Who paid for the car and the professional snowmobile riders to be availiable?

In the 5th Gear episode where a Honda boat / car / bike had a race who covered those costs? C5?

What would you prefer they do, spend £££££££ of licence payers money hiring an unbranded one? Given what it'd cost to supply a dakar-spec wagon for TG to dick around with for a day I'd expect some prime time exposure too.

I would think you're right, the manufacturer/ sponsor would have paid the associated costs (equipment transportation (relating to vehicles)/ fuel/ drivers time/ vehicles etc) but the BBC would have paid for the crew to get there, film work, editing etc.

It's no different to a manufacturer supplying a car for test free of charge, with a free tank of fuel, a mechanic and a few sets of tyres for use on the track IMO. confused

However, the Honda/ 5th Gear feature smacked of paid for content, and was rather obvious.

The other thing to bear in mind is all the top extreme sports guys are tied to Red Bull whether its Power Kayaking against a Bowler wildcat, snowboarding, motor cross or BMXing so if you want the best you have to go to redbull.

As to the episode with the Toe Rag sorry Touareg it did win the Dakar and that has to be worth some comment as they barracked the car so much when it was first produced, its also worth noting that neithor Vettel or Webber in Red Bull Guise have been on Top Gear whereas Jenson twice and Hamilton twice etc

Top Gear is actually a lot about marketing though, advertising laws being as they are manufacturers can't show their cars sliding round a hairpin smoking the tyres or doing high speed runs on tv ads anymore, so they are more than happy to give top gear the cars and have them blaze around like nutters, its the only way they can get production models displayed to the public in that way

The Red Bull thing? there will be an element of red bull co-op or they wouldn't be able to use those vehicles, 20 (maybe 25) years ago lots of the stuff would have had marlboro stickers on
