He's not a bloody victim, nothing happened, young lad had the sense to keep away.

Why does the BBC think its neccessary to make this into a crime when in fact it was a failed attempt?

Was it you? laugh

There was a crime - an attempt to engage in unlawful sexual activity with a child; the kid will no doubt be pretty shaken up, so I don't think describing him as a "victim" in a news piece that will have been written in 10 mins is excessive.

Why the bee in your bonnet about this?

Victim in this context implies a person wh has suffered trauma, suppose they are thinking emotional trauma.
Given the location I am surprised it wasn't caught on CCTV though?

I can see the point Huntsman is making, thuogh this is not the best example to use.

Everyone these days is a 'victim', a police man tells a chav kid to move along and the kid is 'the victim of police harassment'

Alcoholics are now the victims of evil beer makers.

Pedestrians who see a car are victims of speeding etc.

The word is losing value, along with 'love' and 'respect' etc

Bizarre thread.
So someone of 12 gets accosted on the street and offered money for sex by a rapist murderer, and you don't think there is any negative impact on the kid?

Ive got vision of Huntsman in the dock:

"No m'lud- I didn't actually bum her, I just rubbed it on the outside of her trousers until I unloaded in her hair. No actual harm done"

So it was a poor example and I could have articulated my point more clearly....

I'm certainly not condoning the action of the pervert, of course his behaviour is not acceptable, he should be collared and dealt with accordingly.

But in this case, the kid is not a victim, kid spotted trouble and acted accordingly. Good news, everything we teach kids is not wasted.

To my mind, the way its been reported on the BBC website is inaccurate, I'd have written the report in a completely differnet tone, highlighting that the kid was unharmed, clearly assessed the situation, reacted well and avoided this being a much more serious incident.

I know, I was being facetious. I actually agree with the "victim victim victim" point, this is just the worst ever example of it.
FOr a kid- that experience would be pretty terrifying. THerefore he is a victim by definition.

An ex-colleague of mine was subject as a juvenile to being importuned for a sexual act whilst he in a public loo taking a pee. Some thirty years later he is a juror in a court case where somebody is accused of a similar offence. The alleged victim's evidence is very hazy on many issues. My colleague realised that he could remember every single detail about his experience, the clothing of the person who approcahed, the colour of the walls and tiles, the notices on the door and so on.

The kid will be changed in some way for the rest of hs life, he may not yet realise it.

Glad he did the right thing. My colleague never spoke about it to anybody and now realises he did the wrong thing in not reporting and now worries about others who were victims later because he suppressed it for so many years.

Depends where you're from. In Hull, as kids, we called it an opportunity. Come in the car son for a sweet? I'll come in your mouth for the bag.

I agree, the child is a victim. Hope the perp gets caught before he gets more ambitious.
My niece a few weeks ago was flashed by some lowlife in his car, she had the sense to run in the opposite direction and ring her mum.

Yes true.
Not a lie.

Although he unloaded on the back of her skirt rather than her hair so that was a bit untrue. Not 100% sure on why he was let off, but he was definately not punished.

So its not true then.
I would hazard a guess that if the broad story is based in fact then the defense was more on the lines of she was voluntarily dancing with him and rubbing herself against him?
Because I can assure you that you don't get let off if you go up to an unwilling stranger, rub your cock against her arse and then cum over her back.
You really can't do that.

I'll ask my sister if she has the full details as it was her friend who was the victim, but I know for definate that the guy had no punishment, not even a dry cleaning bill for her clothes.

P.S While googling to see if there was a news article on the incident, I found out that the term for what you described is "Swagging" hehe

Victim my arse (see what I did there?).

When I were a lad benders hanging around the park toilets were fair targets, we'd taunt them into buggering (did it again) off.

Kids today rolleyes
