Trying to hire a car in France for a week, driver will be under 25. Everyone seems to charge £25/€25 a day as a 'penalty' for under 25's.

Does anyone charge less than that? Or are the companies where drivers have to be 23< etc...

Thanks

Good Luck, I wrote off a holiday based on cost of car hire!!

Its Crazy, far cheaper to get a taxi or a hotel/villa near to where you want to be e.g. beach!

Not sure about France but I booked with Sixt in Spain and the smallprint suggests that the young drivers surcharge was for people under 23?

Thanks, I've just looked and seen this: A Young Driver Surcharge of EUR 25.- per day, max. EUR 250.- per month started applies for drivers under 25 years.

I think its a French insurance thing, IE, its law for them to charge more.

Hey ho...
