I can immediately think of half a dozen members on here that would vote for Scole Engineering.

I wouldn't give my car to anyone else, in fact, whatever car I have next would still go to them, not just a TVR.

On face value it seems like a pointless exercise eg missing some top garages and can give the impression that one garage is better than another.

Which top garages Gazzab? Any missing, add them to the thread, if there are enough i will create another poll.

The point is, if your not happy with your current garage, where do you go? At least this give a snapshot of where other pH'ers are happy to KEEP there business.

Scole engineering i have never heard of for one, if they are that good others may want to know.

Also, next time a newbie appears and asks this question, you have somewhere to point them?

Had a lot of negativity about how useful it is, and whilst i agree its not ideal, if you can think of a better way to overview the garages without breaking the name and shame rules, im all !

I havent thought about it much , and sorry to be negative, but if you have a garage with 10 mechanics, then they are likely to get through 10 x as many cars as a TVR garage with 1 mechanic. If 50% of their customers are happy then they will still get a high score from those that press the happy button. If the guy on his own keeps 90% of his customers happy then surely he is 'better' but his score will be lower based on throughput.
So (and I dont mean this) if you can divide the scores by the number of mechanics (assuming they are all busy and all have the same productivity) then you will get a better comparison.
But getting real about this - I just dont think the scores prove anything.
If you want to know about a garage then go to the local TVR meet and talk to people.

I agree Gary, it's what you can't mention here that's the info I'd want to know. It's who wouldn't go back and why that I'd want to know. I had some shocking experiences from one of the names on that list, with one problem getting to a week before a court hearing before the garage in question. Unless you can present both sides I'd say the information is pretty worthless.

Agree with the sentiments but cant see a way round it. There is one very near the top in popularity stakes and i wouldnt use them, ever. But, i guess what it may be saying is that i have had (a few) unusually bad experiences? Could if be if lots of people vote for them, lots of people use them and therefore the chances of some unhappy customers will always be more?

Could also be saying that the owners that use them dont pay much attention?! unlikely given the typical PH'er?

Also, i tend to disagree a bit on the garage size thing. If i got good quality service and i knew there may be a chance i would have to wait cause someone was snowed under - i'd book a year in advance! sure there may be times when it reaches saturation point, and bigger garages 'may' get more servicing done, but not necessarily.

Would also agree that getting to a local meet is a good way to get a view on garages, however i am a case in point - a number of people obviuosly rate a garage i dont, so where does that leave the poor guy who doesnt know which way to turn?

If we have to abide by the rules, this is the best representation i can think of. Fair enough if you dont think much of it, you dont have to vote

I can't agree with your counter arguments. They take no account of what was said above. In fact your findings, experience and arguments simply underline what was said above.
Pointless survey that will provide no statisically useful info.

Sadly neither will turning up to a TVR meet. All you will get is various garages' fan clubs competing with each other and trying to convince you theirs is best, in much the same way as the jap tuning scene works.

I think it does work ie the whole thing is subjective, but the poll however is misleading and very 'flat'. Talking to people about their experiences and recommendations is a good place to start. Then talking face to face to said garages is the next step.
