Does it apply to a deed of variation?

Caveat Emptor as a concept applies when people are purchasing thing (it means Let the BUYER beware).

What does a Deed of Variation have to do with buying and selling?

Infact eric that is exactly what I said to the young lady solicitor I was talking too, she looked a bit pissy at me when I said it. I wasnt sure if it some how applied, you know what the law can be like.

I suppose it depends on the nature of the contract. If it is a contract for the supply of services or goods, then it is related to "buying and selling" so Caveat Emptor might be applicable.

However, as is well known (and she should know, as a legal person), consumer legislation and the law of contracts would overide any assertions of the Caveat Emptor principle.
