Or not...spotted a cracking XJS on the Trader last weekend and had a look on the dealers website where it was listed too....excellent. Called up yesterday to arrange to travel up and view it but alas it had been sold at the weekend. Fair enough...but it is still on the dealers website today...and on the Trader still...AND it has just popped up (in the from of a NEW classified ad!!! the old one ran out yesterday!) on Ebay!!

Do dealers keep sold cars abvertised to increase interest/showroom footfall? Just seems odd (and bloody frustrating!!) to me.

Quite a few seem to keep sold cars listed in places where it's not costing them much or anything to do so.

Some dealers also leave them on for a while if they sell quickly, to measure response and see if it is worth buying another. (just bought an XJS myself today funnily enough )

A bit like the tt running an ad under Classic Cars on eBay showing an old 911 for £5000. PM him for more details and you're told that car doesn't exist, it's to get people to contact him.

At least he's 'honest' about that part but he's an idiot. I'd never buy anything from someone so prepared to waste other peoples time.

Just been caught out on this myself trying to source a Tuscan. Ad still live on PH but car was sold last week apparently. I assume they do it so they can push another motor once a punter makes the call, but I must say it is very frustrating to find exactly what you are after only to be told it was sold days earlier.
