Changing service belt
Discussion
Gents, My service belt is now giving a little whine on tick over and I had a proper slip from it at LeMans this year, so I really need to swap it out soon.
Can anyone tell me the relevant part and also is it a pig to fit ( like most everything on the Noble ). It is a 3ltr GTO3 with aircon.
I very rarely seem to drive it at the moment without somthing needing doing.
Thanks
Andy

Andy, try and get a gates belt as per this thread http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...
Piece of cake. You'll need a 3/8" ratchet handle or breaker bar to release the tensioner - the tensioner has a square hole in it for the ratchet handle. Release the tensioner with the ratchet handle, pull off the old belt, put on the new. Job done. I do it all from above, without jacking or removing any panels...
Seems that belt circumferance varies quite markedly - mine for example is a 1693 6PK. Once fitted the tensioner should sit around the mid-way point; if it sits on the end-stop when the belt is fitted then the chances are that the belt is too loose and will start ticking and screeching in time.
Actually a lot easier to do with 2 peeps - one keeping the tensioner at max (girlfriend/wife can do this) and t'other putting the belt on. Get belt correctly aligned onto all pulleys and then using both hands manoeuver the belt over the smooth jockey wheel. Release tensioner (which should sit half way between both end-stops).
