Do you dare show your 70's fashion disasters
Discussion
Ok folks I am not sure if this thread has wings but here goes. I know this will only apply to those of you of a certain age but you will remember the 70's as the decade that fashion forgot. I dare you to post pics of yourselves from that decade.
As a starter for ten here is a pic of me taken 20 years ago trying to look how I did in the 70's. I will post a couple of original pics later. I am the one in the silver jump suit by the way. And yes I did actually go out looking like this:

I had a rather stunning pair of jeans that my Mum, after splitting the seam from the knee downwards, sewed a large triangle in to widen stupidly. That coupled with my brown, mauve and green tank top certainly meant I could go ahead with furtive fumblings on the school trips.
I then decided that the Showaddywaddy look was better. Got an old raincoat from the shed and stitched felt overlays on the top of the pockets. Had a pair of plastic Simod trainers and painted them with gloss paint, a lurid shade of blue. Bottom half of shoe I painted silver. Cool wasn't the word!
Used to walk up and down Guildford High St all day on a Saturday. Must've looked an absolute tosser.
Those were the days.

Streetrod, no worries about your look..... as the pool of sweat on you mates armpits takes the eye off the moody gear !!!!
I was at an old soul do in shepperton this past weekend, we were all oldies , but none of us were dressed up. Just the old rare grooves without the visuals. ( a load of 45+yr olds still trying to "cut some shapes")

Hey I hear you man, every once in while I try to recapture the groove I once enjoyed back in the day. The problem is I need to go and lie down in a dark room afterwards for a couple of hours to recover

A couple of years ago I went to see Earth Wind and Fire at the Albert Hall and the site of a crowd of 40 to 50 something’s trying to get down old school style was hilarious in the extreme as was the glare from the lights off the balding heads.
