Said copper also came across as a bit of a cock. "I don't feel sorry for anyone I prosecute."

I feel that people he targeted that were doing 30mph in the 20 zone genuinely thought it was 30.

He's the kind of guy I take great pleasure in when they get caught out. No wonder even within the force traffic officers are often disliked.

There used to be a lot of traffic branch based in a certain police station in Belfast along with normal police. It wasnt unheard of for them to wait outside the gate at shift change time trying to catch other peelers speeding.

Perhaps they should have a look out the window and notice the 20mph signs? Who knows, they might notice lots of other things too, like other cars and people.

When I do 20mph in a 20 limit, I usually get chronically tailgated, or dangerously overtaken, so I can sympathise to a certain extent frown

20 mph zones are relatively rare when comparing to 30 mph zones. What I believe is the drivers truly did believe it was a 30 zone, what with it being built up etc, and stuck to that speed.

I think it's far more important to drive according to the conditions - which at 30 mph I think it's fair to say they were - than miss the fact that it's a 20 zone and not 30. Signs are easily missed. Sensible driving is more important.

Is this the program that I caught a bit of the other evening where they confiscated a car for no insurance despite the owner having (French) insurance?

That struck me as a bit arsey - given that I understood all EU insurance had to provide minimum cover elsewhere in the EU.

Can anyone clarify this?

I guess that's the crux of it - round-fat-faces. Too many doughnuts no doubt, yet, they still complain when a motorist does a doughnut. biggrin

I saw that, the real distance is certainly no more than a mile.

I'd be interested to hear the answer to this too.

The issue was that it was a British registered car, so French insurance is invalid. It also didn't have an mot. He should have British insurance if it is a British car(or insure through a company that is accredited in the uk). Quite why the French insurance company took the man's money when they would have known it was a British registered car, maybe it would be insured in France, but not in England??...

I've heard the "6 months to get it registered" thing before. And surely, if the insurance co covers you for EU travel, same as a UK policy, then you're covered, non?

Late edit for poor spoolin
