I have noticed a lot of new Tuscan owners appearing on this site, and thought wouldnt it be nice if some of the more long time owners came on here with just general tips on the more regular quirks which affect almost all Tusc owners at one time or another. I am talking about the little things which if can be avided make Tuscan ownership that much more enjoyable.
I will start the ball rolling with a couple, but , come on all you Tuscaneers join in.
1. When you put the roof in the boot, cover it with a towel or something to avoid scratches if the warning triangle falls off onto it.
2. Warm the engine gradually till the oil reaches 50 degrees before getting up to warp speed, and check level regularly as they do have a thirst.
3.Dont be alarmed at pod vibration at high speed, its common.
4.Carry a variety of spare fuses, always useful.
5. Use velcro to stop roof sqeaks.
6. Use motorcycle visor cleaner to keep rear window clear.
7. Get some alternative cans from the Carbon Can Co.
Great looks and noise, but keep originals for track days.
8. Be patient with windscreen washers, they will work eventually.
9. Dont ignore EFI faults, they do generally point to a prob.
10. Heater will work just fiddle with knob. (The cars ,not yours).
Well, thats just a few to get started, so come on guys join in and help the new arrivals!!!!!

11.On point 2 the guidlines from TVR were no rev's over 4000 until the oil reaches 60 and no maxing out till at 80 degrees. The maxing out bit was round the track or prolonged high reving.
12.Always side your seat back before you get out the car. Prevents wear on the leather.
13. Buy a battery conditioner for when the car is not bing used. The alarm could drain the battery in one week if not started.
14. Enjoy the car, wave to other TVR drivers

Hi Di
How about:
The rear windscreen will go in the bag if there are two of you, and you don't have to balance it on your kneecaps! (whilst arguing which way up it goes)
The boot will open if you know the right 'spot'.
Always have your sunnies with you.
Know your stuff - bhp in french especially!
Women know their knobs - leave them to play.
It's not the door opener button on the dash that's faulty - it's a woman trying to operate it! (me, normally)
Just my 5 pence worth!

Here's one:
If you put the car in the garage after a dousing in the rain or a wash, don't be frightened if there's a pond under the cheesegrater. Mine holds water in the nose and slowly lets it out over a matter of hours through the seam at the trailing edge of grater panel.
Incidentally, if the pond tastes of glycol - further investigation is advised!

1/ Velcro for rear window, rear window catches & roof.
2/Evostick or Pattex contact adhesive for the bits that missed the glue during build.
3/Auto-glyme vinyl cleaner for the parts that got too much glue during build.
4/Mr Sheen furniture polish for cleaning the rear window, although I will try the visor cleaner.
5/Rain-X for the window screen as saves using the wipers when on the move.
6/Bosche 21/21S window screen wipers.
7/Leven caps for petrol ,oil, water & power steering fluid as orignals are a bit cheap & nasty and difficult to get off.
8/Nitron suspension.
9/Use 98 ron or Optimax.
10/After washing take car out for a run to dry it off.
11/If you keep the jump start leads in the boot make sure you know the secret way in
As already mentioned check fluids regularly & enjoy all the admiring glances and giving all other exotic car's a good pasting for 1/3rd of the cost.

Yeah, and it can be fixed. Getting the wheels balanced should do the trick, although I had to eventually change tyres to get rid of this (did I have a set of dodgy SO2s ?).
Editted to add - I'm talking at 3 figure speeds

Familiarise yourself with the diagnostic codes that are displayed from time-to-time. L and O seem to be quite common !!
You can find a list on this thread...
