Strictly Weekend Trips

Problem: I love getting away for a day or two. I have pretty much run out of holiday at work.

Solution: Find a host of destinations I can visit within the time frame of 5pm on Friday and 9pm on a Sunday. I am located in the North East of England so not exactly a stone's throw from Dover.

I would rather get out of the UK if possible. I am open to air, rail or road travel. There will be me and the missus.

We went to Bruges not long ago and both loved it. Have no problem with driving on the continent but not a great fan of getting lost and don't like the idea of navigating / parking in European cities.

Eusrostar is probably a good option from MIddlesborough - it's an easy change at Kings Cross. So that's Paris, Lille or Brussels.

Otherwise Amsterdam from Durham airport (leaves 5:05)

Or how about Oslo from Newcastle airport on Ryanair or Palma on Easyjet?
