I imagine many will say Rome or Venice but where else in Italy is best to holiday for 7 to 10 days of relaxation and good food?

I've stayed in a villa in Tuscany and a hotel a couple of times in the Lakes (Garda for me). All been great holidays. Nice a relaxing and neither too far from some good sight seeing etc (Venica and Verona in the Lakes, Rome and Florence in Tuscany)

Whilst my family are from Ravello, Amalfi (great for seafood if that is your thing) and Atrani, I would say Tuscany (where I live now after parting from the UK in 2002) is a great place to honeymoon. So many things to see whilst also being a great place to relax and do well, nothing ! Very hot over here at the moment too !

Ever thought about taking a hot air balloon ride ? If you are interested I can pass you a few websites of hot air balloonists which operate all over Tuscany (all owned by either American's, English or Italians)

A recent guest to our farmhouse had 3 hot air balloons of his own !! A bit greedy maybe wink
If you fancy renting out something a bit special (I mean a car) then I can also provide some great places that rent out some rather special cars. A local place has just taken delivery of a dark red 458 Italia. He also has a Gallardo Spyder and a 430 Scuderia amongst others.

Hope that helps.

Anyone mentioned Amalfi coast yet? wink

I think the lakes would have to feature in 2nd place.

Another vote here for the Lakes. We did enjoy Tuscany, but felt that the scenery was a bit more majestic and the roads were almost as good.

Saw my first (and only) Zonda on the road next to Lake Garda cloud9

We're going on our honeymoon on August 12th taking in Venice, Florence, Tuscany & Sorrento. We went on our first trip together to Florence and a different part of Tuscany. I cannot recommend them enough. Below are the places we are going to be staying at. Can't wait!

It's got to be Tuscany for the food and relaxation. Siena, Florence and the chianti region are superb. Pisa, Livorno,Viareggio and the coast area didn't do it for me.
I've stayed in central Tuscany a good few times and always gain at least half a stone in a fortnight!!!

You'll find good food practically everywhere in Italy, so all it boils down to is what scenery you'd like to be looking at while eating your dinner!

Also bear in mind the time of year that you'll be visiting; in summer I'd probably choose Sardegna for the beaches while in autumn/winter I'd probably opt for Lago Maggiore and Lago di Como.
