Just to make you appreciate your garage...

About a month or so ago, my mum bought a Focus. A facelift-model 1.4 CL on a 2002 plate, but it was only £700.
The story was that it was stolen/recovered (key got stolen, so no damage there). However, they had managed to ruin the gearbox. He took it to a South London garage to get it replaced 'cheap'. It conked out on the way home, and they of course told him to come back. This happened a few more times before he became fed up with it, and wanted rid cheap.
Anyway, took it to our garage. And here're the pictures of what they found.

Here you can see some of the generous use of insulating tape to contain the wires. Also, how the ends on the bottom right are just twisted.

Some of the covering melted from wires that led to nowhere shorting out.

I'd be lying if I said I remembered what the grey thing was
but, our guys are '99% sure' it's off a different type of car altogether.

After looking at the wiring, can't believe anything other than said garage butchered it on purpose, to ensure he kept coming back
Moral of the story I guess, is that if you find a good garage, stick with them!!
Still, since fixing, car's been excellent. Well quids in despite the mess, and other than this it's been very well looked after
