S3 Engine Mountings

Hi everyone

On with the TVR S3 restoration saga

I spent sometime looking at previous posts and deduced that my best option would be to order some new moutings from Rally Design Limited (part no RD410).

Ordered yesterday evening but was informed by a nice chap from RDL that the part was out of stock until September !

Was hoping to get the engine back in before then ... anyone know of any alternatives?

Burton Power are also showing them as on back-order due September...

Theres some listed here... but dont know if they are the harder compound (like Rally-Designs) or not and if they actually have them...

make sure you buy the 50mm thick ones (not 38mm) and as discussed previously on here you might find fitting the damned things easier if you remove about 10mm from the stud lengths and use lock-washers and plain nuts intead of locknuts...

If your old ones are still sound and its just a clearance problem with the roll bar then packers are a good short term solution. Get some large section washers and saw a slot up to the hole in the washer so you can slide them between the mount and the bracket with the engine jacked and the nut slackened. Its handy to lever the stud down to aid fitting the packers.
