My son has recently renewed his insurance with a new Company.
They are now naturally asking for his proof of NCB, but he can't for the life of him remember who he was with to ask for it!
He has lost all the old paperwork and has no record of the payment.

Anyone got an idea how to re-trace it?

Trial and error I'd say, just go onto one of the comparison sites (+the ones that are not on the sites, Direct Line etc) and ring and ask them.

Best way forward IMO.

The insurance company he's now with will know, they all talk, and pass info to each other.

Ask exsisting insurer to do a Mid check from a month ago. Or check bank statements for who you paid last year or if on Dd

What would he have done if he had an accident? "Sorry I can't give you my details, I can't remember who I'm insured with"? I suggest when he gets his next policy, you photocopy it and put a copy in his glovebox.

And if he is young and seeking a new insurer, his previous is probably Quinn Direct. They were often the cheapest for young lads and went out of business, hence all their old customers now needing to look elsewhere.

An insurer can do a MID check from any date and will tell you the insurer and policy number at that given time.
