I drove one once.

Needed pedal assistance on the slightest gradient, which completely ruins the point of having a motor in the first place.

15mph seemed a bit optimistic too.

The "tongue of the shoe" bit sticking up in front of your face flaps up and down like an epileptic spaz and has LEDs in it to indicate the state of battery charge which are too dim to be seen in daylight.

I'd rather have this one.

Used to have one, very Reliantesque in it's handling, as in easy to get it to tip over smile

Great for some fun, but yes quicker to walk.

Interesting, the one I drove would slide at the drop of a hat and would never have enough lateral grip to tip over.

Maybe it's to do with the driver, a lightweight avian body doesn't raise the C of G so much as a big lumpy human one.

An elderly couple up the road from me has two sitting in their garage! Bought brand new in the 80's, think they used them for 6 months then there they stayed!
Gave up using them, due to being so slow & almost getting crushed by trucks on a couple of occasions!

I spot them when he has the garage open when washing his car & they are dusty but mint!

Wonder what they would be worth?

Maybe a grand for the pair if they were lucky.

I've been in one, when I was maybe 9/10 in 1992/3 (so they had been and gone by then). I thought it was bloody ace, but back then I wasnt aware of the history.

i was a passenger in one when they were new and dad tried one at a show somewhere when i was aged 5 or 6 (and remember it like it was yesterday). Great idea, and updated with today's battery tech there might be something in it.

A guy in the readers cars section in Practical Performance Cars magazine has put a honda single cylinder petrol engine in one iirc. He had it painted in Gulf blue and orange. The magazine claimed it was the future for electric cars. hehe
