Dear All,

I've had these strange chip marks appear on the piece of trim near the rear windows on my E90. I had both sides repaired by a 'Smart Repair' in February, however they have all come back again.

The guy from the Smart Repair company couldn't figure out what had caused them, they are too shallow to be actually chips from stones, i suggested maybe ice damage as the car was encased in ice and snow just after the Christmas period.

He said because it was a piece of trim he couldnt spray it so he just filled the holes with what looked like touch-up pen.

Both sides are basically the same, although the passengers side is worse (see photo)

Its not the end of the world but a little bit annoying!

Any suggestions?

Could it have been a bird pecking at its reflection? Just a thought...

Is it an aluminium trim? Corrosion can cause this. You can paint trim, I have on many occasions - it can be a pain because of all the masking needed so the cost is difficult to justify unless the trim removes easily.

Actually could very well be corrosion, there are some areas on the same bit of trim that look to be 'bubbling' a little bit.

Is it worth just getting some touch up paint and be done with it?
