Whilst checking exchange rates for an upcoming trip to the US, I noticed the CAD rate is now just over 1.5:£1 - around 15 years ago when I spend a bit of time there it was 2.5:£1!

Is it not insanely expensive there for UK punters nowadays? confused

Australia is more extreme still.
I think it was well above $3 in the not too distant past.

Was Canada noticably expensive now then?

We first went over in 1996 and have been back at least once a year since. I remember it being around 2.40\2.50 CAD to the £ and it's been painful watching it come down to its present 1.60ish level.

Still think it's reasonable though, just not really cheap like it used to be. I think the cost of the stuff we spend money on still compares favourably with the UK.

Petrol's still just over half the UK price.

Going back over next week, can't wait bounce

Oh don't get me wrong, Canada is one of my favourite countries, it's just I wondered whether us poor Britons could afford to go there any more!
