Buying a Used Car in the USA
Discussion
(mods - I avoided the US forum as things seem a little slow moving in there, but feel free to move as necessary)
I'm sure someone in the wonderful world of PistonHeads can give some advice here.....
I'm heading off to Orlando with three friends at the beginning of Sept for three months flight training en route to our Commercial licences. We'll be living in Kissimme and flying out of the local airfield.
During our time there we'd like to get out and about, which I suspect will be somewhat difficult without access to a car. We'd initially considered rental for three months, however it seems to me that a better option would be for us all to contribute some cash (say £500 - £800 each) and buy a vehicle which we can sell when we leave, hopefully recouping much of the purchase cost. Also it might allow us to drive something more interesting that a econo-box hire car.
However, I've no idea how tax, insurance, ownership etc work out there or what the second hand car market it like.
Anyone have any idea about the above? Is there a US version of Autotrader? Would we get anything interesting for that amount of money?
All advice gratefully recieved!
