R8 - is it really a TT?

Now I know this is perhaps not seen as the correct forum for this, but I've seen a few of threads where the R8 has been compared to a TT, so I thought I'd place it here. Having just got one, and knowing one of the lads at work runs a TT, I thought I'd see what you all thought.
To be honest, I do think there is a strong family resemblance, but still distinct enough for them not to be too similar.

I think there are models of the TT which look closer to the R8 and yes, pass me my cane and dog because I think an R8 just looks all too much like a TT on steroids... In fact, there was a poster on here who very politely put up two shots of the two cars at a kind of 3/4 on angle and they looked very similar - at least to me.

No, I don't really care, and will most definitely enjoy the car - 2 days in and I've not stopped grinning yet. Just thought it an interesting comparison, and worthy of a new look, so to speak. Think I saw that thread, and when the cars were shot separately they did indeed look alike. When shot side by side I see much less of a similarity.Apologies if it came over as though I am offended by the comparison - as said before - they are both Audi's!!

Aside from the comment I already made about seeing threads in here already where comparison was made, which was my initial reason for posting here, you've identified perhaps a bigger question.
Where does the R8 fit? If You post about an R8 in the Audi forum, posts tend to be complimentary rather than objective. The mixture of answers so far here have been very diverse - and better for it, in my opinion. Further, there is a lot more traffic in here. Not a reason in itself, but the traffic is much more suited to the nature of the car rather than it's branding - good bad or indifferent in thought.
Having previously owned both fast Audis and a Lambo, I know the R8 doesn't really fit the Audi forum. It is much closer, if not like, the Gallardo. If I were to attempt a comparative, I would say it's like a forgiving Gallardo much more readily than trying to compare it to either the RS4 or RS6 I've owned. Maybe my post, like the car has no logical place - maybe General Gassing should have been the home for the post?
