I vaguely remember PHer Domster having one and saying parts were nightmarishly expensive if they were available at all. Months off the road waiting for mundane over-the-counter things.

A friend of mine has one. Really lives up to all you expectations and even surpasses them. The only thing that would stop me is the horrendous running costs. Eye watering stuff, grand for the clutch rear dampers leaking god knows how much that will cost servicing etc etc

Nearly bought one a few months back, but after seeing almost £10k worth of receipts in the last 12 months I had a little sanity check... especially when I already had a list of 'things to do' in my head which would easily run into a few £k.

Awesome cars though, a shame so many people don't seem to appreciate/recognise them..

I remember borrowing my boss' GSi3000 - that felt like a bloody (big) go-kart. The Lotus must be awesome.

Any Frankenstein car is going to cost silly money to run on a regular basis, but one of those would be a toy...well worth the expense and would only cover 3,000 per annum. You won't make any cash putting your savings in the bank, so why not buy a classic car and enjoy yourslef. Who knows you could even make money.

Never liked them. Very impressive concept, but that's where it ends. If you want something fast, there are better options.

Agreed. I can see why people lust over them but I'd have an e39 M5 every time.

I had the fortune to drive one a few years ago, it was awesomely fast and handled extremely well for its bulk, a future classic?, definitely

Its a classic now, not in the future!

Got to remember these cars are 20 years old now - it kind of puts them in some sort of perspective for when people compare them to E39 M5s.

I know which one I'd rather run as an everyday car, but an LC in the corner of the garage wouldn't be such a bad thing. A good one, bought well, will be very unlikely to lose money now.
