Decent bargain barge or disappointing V6?

Saw a cheap one with low miles and it's well inside my budget. Saloon too so looks a bit nicer than the hatch so i'm actually considering it.

Does anyone know the equipment specs on these, quickclear front screen, cruise, traction control etc? Or can point me in the direction of a pdf of brochures?

Cheers

Hmmm, I wondered that. It's a V6 so it's smooth and sounds good but it's not particularly quick is it?

If my Mk3 Mondeo is anything to go by, no matter how good the V6 engine might be, your eyes will bleed when you realise what a dull car you've just bought...

Have a look at a 9-5 Aero.

Yeah cheers for that. I have been looking at those. Estate versions. Very tempted by one of those, it's just this Mondeo is a fair bit cheaper than the 9-5's.

I think the Zetec S is a nice Mk3. There are a few 3.0 ones too. You'll get the heated screen and the usual Ford bits. Not sure about cruise, but you can look for switches anyway. I'd be wary of any autos and look for a manual one. From £3k you can't complain really.

Omega V6 would be worth looking at too.

Yes, it has cruise. Single-cd is standard, along with tc, quickclear etc and 18" alloys.

I had a tdci 130 zetec s as a company car a few years back and liked it. Very spacious, very comfy for long journeys (like aberdeen to pompey in a day).

18" alloys and lower profile rubber increase grip and they actually handle quite nicely but the ride can feel overly firm and a bit crashy compared to a mondeo with 16" wheels.

Think the 2.5 v6 is only about 170bhp iirc, much better off with the diseasel one I reckon (although these will likely be a fair bit dearer).

The ST220 is better on juice than the 2.5 V6 and is obviously much quicker. Don't think you'll pick one up at the price though!

Nice cars - nothing spectacular - just nice cars. Bodykit on the Zetec S compliments the car well.

Thanks for the comments and some other ideas. As much as i'd like an ST220 it is a bit out of my budget.

So about £2-£2.5k for an average mileage V6 Zetec S?
