After watching Leatherheads last week and realising just how poor it is, I tried to think of some really good sports movies I'd seen and came to the conclusion that my favourites are the now rather old 'Bull Durham' and of course 'Rocky' plus the brilliant but rather obscure Japanese film 'Ping Pong' which I rate easily in my top 5 ever.

So what do you think is the best Sports movie ever?

Can't comment on best sports film ever, but things that pop into my mind as ones I liked or can watch over.

Ones I can watch over and over;
Rocky
Rocky II
Rocky Balboa
The Best of Times
Mean Machine (1974 Burt Reynolds version called The Longest Yard in the USA)

Ones I remember liking at the time;
Remember the Titans
Gridiron Gang
Necessary Roughness

I'm not really into sports films, though I saw Friday Night Lights recently and really liked it.

Le Mans probably.

Not sure if it would be allowed but 'The Blizzard of AAHHH's' by Greg Stump is possibly the best Extreme Skiing film ever made.

My thoughts exactly. Naturally that is the James Caan original version.

Might be considered more of a war movie than a sports movie, but there is certainly a sporting theme and many sporting stars:

Escape to Victory.

Ill have to say BASEketball is the best by far. I enjoyed the Wrestler too , dont know if its a sports film. Days of Thunder is suprisingly OK.

How was that Invictus film? Id imagine its just a film to blow sunshine up Nelson Mandelas ringpiece?
