New Plugs

Apologies in advance if this subject has already been done, but I gave up with the P/heads search engine as it seems to have gone into a coma.

Ive done 6500 miles in my Griff since I got it last year and according to the service schedule its time to change the plugs. The existing ones are NGK B7ECS which corresponds to what 'The Bible' states as the norm.

The plugs look to be in reasonable condition and apart from occassional pinking under load the car runs fine as well, so I was going to replace like for like. The only slight issue I have is that the plug gap is wider than I would have expected for the mileage that they are supposed to have done, and they look to be dirtier than I would expect a set of 6500 mile plugs to be in.

Does anyone have any alternative plug type suggestions, and does anyone use the Iridium long life type?

Stick with the NGK B7ECS, they do the job and it isn't worth the trouble or risk of using something else.
Get new ones, set the gaps yourself and pull them in 6 weeks or so to see how they are getting on. They'll be fine.

Once I'd had the lot of them out and had a good look at them in daylight today they looked okay, so I'll take your advice and just stick with them.

I'll definately be pulling them out now and again to prevent the threads getting caked up. The've gone back in with the threads smeared in Copperslip.
