The lad and I have just returned from a "pre-Elvington sorte" to Bruntingthorpe. I am glad to say the Purp ZR1 did us proud, including out draging and out cornering £160,000 worth of Barabus Merc V12(have it on vid as well)!! I have to say he did have me big time on the run down the main straight but that was kind of expected with his 650 bhp!

We have found out that the gearing we have is good for only 165 mph so a change of diff ratio for Elvington is a must. Top speed honours went to a Lambo at 189 mph and a Ruff Porsche at 183 mph so we were way off the mark.

It was very nice to silence a few of the snotty b******s that looked down there collective noses when we turned up!! Dan blew away a new Posche Turbo the driver of which told him in no uncertain terms that "Yank cars don't handle", yawn, changed him mind when Dan went round him on the outside of the hairpin!!

Happy days.

Come to Brunters tomorrow, watch them wipe the floor in terms of top speed, then we'll watch you get filled in for comments like that, you dreadful little peasant.

We'll take your rose tinted specs off first, promise.

Was it this guy of the ZO6 VS. 993TT thread? Great one for showing those Porsche’s how to go around corners, sounds like you had fun.

Best get that diff changed and leave them in the dust on the straights as well.

Sounds like you had a good day. Always good to put the 'Clarkson brigade' in their place

That Merc you mentioned would never stand a chance in handling, it most likely weighs far too much. Good to put the cynical people in their place.

Well they definately didn't wipe the floor with us, both Dan and I forgot to select 16 injectors at the start of a couple of runs, he trashed a 996 off the line and had pulled a good 150 yds on him before the first hairpin, the Porsche caught up under braking but Dan just drove away from him up the next straight. I had the pleasure of doing the same to a TVR ??? not sure what type they all look the same in the rear veiw!!

We did have a very good time and on the whole the guys and gals we met were a great bunch. I am going to enter the next VMax which is running later in the year. Be interesting to bring along a certain black 4?? ZR1 and Niges flying bannana in TT form............

Mid June is not good! Clashes with Le Mans! Weekend of the 5th/6th would be good or Sat 19th.
Thinking about it the 19th would be best as I should have "run-in" the new set up by then!

SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH!

You aren't supposed to be telling anyone about the potential BHP of my "upgrades"! Especially those Viper boys (and girls).

Also remember my lack of brake upgrades? Well Bruntingthorpe is not to place to "test" them really is it?

I couldn't think of a better way to spend it, although I'm not sure if Leslie would agree with you or I. How are you doing Geoff? I was doing a little surfing and came across this forum. I take it the ZR1 you got from the guy in states worked out well. Never could understand how someone who modified Corvettes for a living drove a rice burner to work? How is Daniel? Are you still attempting to educate Bob on the proper number of cylinders? Anyway just wanted to say hello. If you ever find yourself in the land of driving on the proper side of the road the front door is always open to you and yours.

take care,

jeff

Good to hear from you Jeff, are you still chasing yourself around the world or are you enjoying your "Jeal/McCrea" LT4 and terrorising the locals in Nebraska??!!
